With 9 candidates vying for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives 1st Congressional District, the field is quite crowded ahead of the Aug. 30 Primary Election.
YP @ The Beach and the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Meet & Greet Wednesday, July 27th at Royal Palm Grille in Miramar Beach. The meet & greet will give the candidates an opportunity to interact with local constituents, as well giving the constituents an opportunity to speak to the candidates face-to-face.
The nine candidates who have filed to run include: Rebekah Johansen Bydlak (Rep); Cris Dosev (Rep); State Senator Greg Evers (Rep); Gary Fairchilde (Rep); Brian Frazier (Rep); State Representative Matt Gaetz (Rep); Steven Specht (Dem); Mark Wichern (Rep); and James Zumwalt (Rep). The Republican winner of the Aug. 30 Primary will face Specht (Dem) in the Nov. 8 General Election.
Florida’s 1st Congressional District represents Escambia, Okaloosa, Walton, Santa Rosa and a portion of Holmes counties along the Panhandle. Incumbent Jeff Miller, who took home more than 70 percent of the vote in the 2014 General Election, is retiring at the conclusion of his term.
